The Women's Auxiliary consists of wives, daughters, sisters and friends of current members, as well as independent members or sportswomen who are 18 years of age or older. It was established in 1969, when the men's club asked the women to form a group that would work in conjunction with the main club. Therefore, the functions of our charter are to act as a support group to our club and to promote the club to the community. We meet on the third Thursday of each month at 7:30 at the club house. Our meetings serve not only as a social gathering for the women of the club, but also a business meeting to discuss our current and up coming projects or activities. We serve refreshments at the close of the meeting and have guest speakers or activities after the business portion of the meeting.
As a support group, the Auxiliary raises money for club improvements. In the past, we've had separate fundraisers and seasonal activities that promoted the Club in the community. One of the ways we raise money is gift basket raffles for Father's Day and Mother's Day and our Christmas Stocking raffle. Over the past two years, we have held Bake Sales and dinners prior to monthly General Membership Meetings. That money has allowed us to make donations to the "Friends of the OCSC" Banquet and the "Adam Wheatcroft Scholarship Fund". Recently we raffled a homemade Memorial Quilt in Adam's name and raised $2,700.00 dollars to donate to the Scholarship Fund. We also sponsor a Children's Christmas Party and Easter egg Hunt. Both of these events are open to the public as well as to O.C.S.C. members and their families.
Although our membership has declined in recent years, the Women's Auxiliary is still a very active and viable entity of the club. We are always looking for new prospective members. Please come to one of our meetings to find out more about us. You are always welcome and we are anxious to see you. We also encouraged you to bring a friend. New faces bring new ideas and are the platform for new life in our group. Hope to see you at our next monthly meeting. December 5, 2009 is our Kiddies' Christmas party, open to the public. Santa Claus will be our special guest.
December 12, 2009 will be our Christmas Cookie and Gift exchange with dinner.
